Effective communication is the key to success in Ophthalmic practice. Barriers in communication has proved to be the obstacle in achieving patient satisfaction, despite optimum eye-care delivery. Hurried consultations with reduced chair time and improper use of jargon can frustrate a well meaning patient, causing stressed patient doctor relationship. Projecting IOL brand over surgical safety or skill as counselling can mar the practice on a long run with disastrous consequences. Breaking the bad news and prognostication in day to day practice warrants a special skill and elements of empathy. Most often the roots of these undesirable communication can be traced back top our medical schooling and cultural values. this instruction course consisting of eminent ophthalmic practitioners who are articulate and excellent communicators, aims at resurrecting the importance of clear , unambiguous communication and counselling for hassle free practice and happier patients.
