Abstract
Scleral buckle has been highly successful technique for the repair of RRD, however, the popularity of this time proven technique has been waning. Decrease practise of buckling may be due to recent advances in the machines, instrumentation, and visualization systems for vitrectomy, in addition, the inability of learners to observe their mentors employing intraoperative indirect ophthalmoscopy in scleral buckling poses an additional challenge. The introduction of chandelier endoillumination during scleral buckle, helps in visualization by wide field intra operative viewing systems through operating microscope. These may be pivotal in reversing the trend of diminishing technique of scleral buckling. It may also limit the need for indirect ophthalmoscopy.Wide angle visualization with chandelier endoillumination is a novel technique that appears to bring a distinct advantage to perform and teach scleral buckling .
