Abstract
A 17 year-old-boy presented with decrease in vision in right eye for the last 6 months, following blunt injury. His vision in right eye was PR Accurate. Anterior segment examination revealed the presence of subluxated mature intumescent cataract. Ultrasound B scan of right eye revealed the presence of total retinal detachment. The patient was planned for Pars plana lensectomy followed by pars plana vitrectomy, however, patient’s parents wanted to first get rid of the cataract for cosmetic purpose, and later go ahead with RD surgery, only if visual improvement was expected. The surgical video demonstrates how a cutter was used to do capsulorrhexis followed by extraction of intumescent subluxated cataract in moment mode while utilising the vitrectomy infusion to maintain anterior chamber. The entire bag could be emptied using two 20 Gauge entry into anterior chamber. A CTR was then used to stabilize the bag followed by foldable IOL implantation and a successful RD surgery one week later.
