Abstract
Purpose: To find out and compare CFT after uneventful cataract surgery among normal and diabetic patients without retinopathy using SD OCT. Methods: Patients were divided into 2 group: 1.Diabetic patients without retinopathy without macular changes 2.Non diabetic patients without macular involvement. 60 patients (30 in each group) completed a follow up period of 3 months in which CFT after surgery was compared from pre op values in both groups. Also BCVA was compared in each group. Result: BCVA had significant improvement after surgery in both groups but when compared among post op patients in both groups it was found to be statistically insignificant. CFT increased significantly when compared to pre op levels. Increased CFT was maximum at 1month post op in both groups but was significantly more in diabetic patients as compared to non diabetic patients. Also at the end of 3 months, there was insignificant decline in CFT in diabetic group and significant decline in non diabetic group.
