Abstract
PURPOSE: To analyse the causes and visual outcomes following MSICS re surgeries by fellows DESIGN: Retrospective study SETTING: Tertiary eye care centre DURATION:JANUARY2020-JUNE2021METHODS:Resurgeries after the index MSICS performed by fellows analysed including age,sex,RE/LE,cataract density,dilatation,IOL implanted,ocular/systemic diseases documented RESULTS: 10 fellows performed 3661 MSICS in 16 months shows 57 resurgeries(1.39%), AC reformation-13,cortex wash-19,IOL redialing-17,conjunctival reposition-13,DM suturing-1,anterior vitrectomy-1. 49patients had post op BCVA >6/12.CONCLUSION:causes ranged from trivial conjunctival reposition to nucleus drop.cortex wash followed by IOL redialing is the most common resurgeries done in our study.preop small pupil, PXF, mature cataracts had more resurgery rate even though performed by senior fellows(>1Y).Wet lab training under senior surgeon surveliance, sensitising fellows on the importance of certain steps can reduce this significantly
