Abstract
PURPOSE: To determine awareness regarding the covid-19 associated mucormycosis (CAM) among medical professionals
METHODS: In this Cross sectional, questionnaire-based study, Google forms were sent to the phones of doctors involved in COVID-19 patient care. Awareness regarding the disease entity, risk factors, clinical features, first line management and prevention were assessed. Awareness was graded based on accuracy of responses as low (<50%), moderate (50%-75%) and high (>75%).
RESULTS: Of the 152 participants, more than 90% were trainees. Almost 70% of the respondents had high level of awareness regarding measures to reduce CAM. Only 15% showed a high level of awareness regarding treatment. About 40% of the respondents showed awareness regarding disease entity and pathogenesis.
CONCLUSION: Even though CAM is a new entity, above 80% of health professionals involved in COVID care had a moderate to high level of understanding of disease process and prevention methods.
