Abstract
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a significant cause of preventable blindness. Retinopathy of prematurity is a proliferative retinal vascular disease affecting the premature infant with an incompletely vascularized retina. The spectrum of ophthalmological findings in ROP exists from minimal sequelae, which do not affect vision, to bilateral retinal detachment and total blindness. Recent advances in neonatal care have led to an increase in the survival of low birth weight infants, resulting in rise of ROP incidence. Timely screening of premature infants at risk of developing ROP is important in ROP management as early treatment can result in improved visual outcome. The aim of the study was to determine the incidence and risk factors and clinical course of ROP at tertiary institute. In an ongoing screening programme for ROP of 150 newborn babies we estimated the incidence ,risk factors and clinical course of ROP from october 2019 to april 2021.
