Abstract
Purpose: To elucidate visual outcome of an ICE syndrome patient after DSEK triple procedure.
Methods: Case report of DSEK triple procedure in a patient with Iridocorneal Endothelial (ICE) syndrome. Preoperative visual acuity, slit lamp, AS-OCT and specular microscopy findings were documented. Postoperative follow up was done till 24 months.
Result: 52 years old female diagnosed as a case of ICE syndrome with corneal decompensation and immature cataract Right eye was managed with DSEK Triple procedure. Postoperative period was uneventful. Patient had a good visual recovery of 6/9 (unaided vision) in right eye with clear cornea.
Conclusion: Selective replacement of dysfunctional endothelium with DSEK can successfully treat corneal edema and associated visual loss and pain caused by ICE syndrome. Visual recovery is rapid and refractive changes are minimal compared with replacement of the full corneal thickness in a traditional penetrating keratoplasty.
