Abstract

An elderly male presenting with vague history of fall of sand in eye followed by rubbing 5 days back, now complaining of diminution of vision and watering, was noted to be having significant corneal thinning over a broad area of cornea involving pupillary region and having impending perforation. The patient was taken to operation theatre and thin layer of cyanoacrylate glue was applied on the area of thinning followed by bandage contact lens placement. Topical and oral treatment was started. Over a period of time, the glue fell off and the area healed leaving behind corneal opacity with vascularization. Cataract surgery with or without optical keratoplasty could be planned for a later date. Thus, timely application of synthetic glue along with bandage contact lens could salvage the globe.
