Abstract
Aim: To study the clinical, demographical , microbiological profile and analyse the final outcome of infective keratitis over 3 years Methods: Retrospective chart analysis of patients with infective keratitis from Jan 2015 to December 2018 Results: 1284 of 2536 cases of infective keratitis were included with a M:F of 3:1 and mean age of presentation of 37years (+/- 23 .2). 47% were farmers, 15% housewives and 14% were students. Fungi were identified in 51.6% ,bacteria (40.4%) and others (8%) . Fusarium in South and Aspergillus in North India were the commonest fungi and S aureus was the most common bacteria. Ocular trauma was the most common risk factor for fungal and blockage of nasolacrimal duct for bacterial. 32.5% resolved with medical management while 67.5% required surgical intervention with recurrence in 18.7%. Conclusion: Awareness regarding the ever changing trend of clinicomicrobiologial profile aids in minimising visual morbidity by initiating prompt treatment
