Abstract
AIM: To study the correlation between type of diabetic macular edema and visual acuity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: It’s a retrospective study of patients with DIABETES MILLETUS who underwent OCT evaluation at Tertiary care center ,VISHAKAPATNAM over duration of 6months. Collection of data include patient age, gender, best corrected visual acuity, type and duration of diabetes, stage of retinopathy by fundus examination, optical coherence tomography macula. exclusion criteria :patient treated with intravitreal injections or with TRACTIONAL retinal detachment or vitreomacular traction, patients with glaucoma, uveitis ,retinitis pigmentosa are excluded. RESULTS :Study included 50 patients with DIABETES MILLETUS(100 eyes)of which 60% show SLDRT and 20% with CME and 10% with SRF and 10%eyes showed more than one pattern. CONCLUSION: The mean visual acuity is worst in sub retinal fluid diabetic macular edema(SRF).there is a significant correlation between visual acuity and type of DME.
