Abstract
Introduction-In developing countries,Tuberculosis(TB) is a highly infectious and prevalent disease causing high morbidity and mortality.Though it commonly affects lungs, but it also invariably involves ocular tissue. Association of episcleritis with Tuberculosis is rare
Case Report-We present a rare case of recurrent episcleritis in a 60-year-old Indian female from Northeast India, who presented to our OPD with mild pain, redness and lacrimation of her right eye since six months. She had taken treatment from other eye centre but her symptoms didn’t subside completely and recurred. After thorough investigations it turned out to be tubercular episcleritis as montux test was strongly positive. The patient was put on ATT and followed up.She recovered well with treatment.
Conclusion-Even though tuberculosis has rare association with episcleritis, keeping in view its high endemicity in India,it is suggested that tuberculosis should be ruled out whenever we encounter a case of recurrent episcleritis
