Abstract
Papillophlebitis is a rare condition in which the clinical features of CRVO are present without a history of vascular disease usually seen in in otherwise healthy young adults. The clinical features are painless unilateral disc hyperemia and edema, retinal venous engorgement, intraretinal hemorrhages and macular edema. The postulated underlying mechanism is inflammation of the optic disc, leading to compression of the central retinal vein and venous insufficiency. There is a possible association of papillophlebitis with the new COVID -19 disease. SARS-CoV2 coronavirus induced inflammatory reaction and the coagulation alteration may act as a risk factor for the development of papillophlebitis. Below we describe a case of a young Indian male with papillophlebitis with seroconversion for SARS-CoV-2.
