Abstract

Purpose: To report a rare presentation of unilateral iris metastasis in metastatic breast cancer. Methods: A 63-year-old woman,diagnosed case of metastatic carcinoma breast with complaints of alteration in colour of Iris

and blurring of vision right eye (RE) was referred to ophthalmologist by onco-surgeon . Evaluation revealed multiple greyish white irregular nodular growths on iris. UBM and OCT confirmed no extension of lesions. HRCT and MRI findings confirmed the diagnosis. Results: A diagnosis of iris metastasis to RE secondary to metastatic breast cancer was made and oncology review was obtained. Conclusion: Exclusive iris metastasis from breast cancer is rare and a feature of widespread disseminated disease. A prompt diagnosis necessitates high index of suspicion and complete ocular examination.Treatment of uveal and iris metastases is palliative, hence clinicians must balance optimism with a more realistic outlook of a shortened patient lifespan.
