Abstract
AIM: To report a rare case of a Lennert’s lymphoma. METHOD: A 73-yr-old male with a 20-yr-old past history of T-cell lymphoma in remission presented with left proptosis. The orbital mass was palpable in the superotemporal orbit and CT orbit showed a homogeneous density soft tissue mass, not separate from the lacrimal gland. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry following incision biopsy via a lateral orbitotomy was suggestive of T cell immunophenotype non-Hodgkin Lymphoma with a diffuse infiltrate rich in histiocytes (Lennert’s lymphoma). CONCLUSION: Due to the presence of histiocytes, the histopathology of Lennert’s lymphoma is often confused with other histiocytic lesions, which are generally managed with steroids versus a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for lymphoma. Lennert’s lymphoma must always be in the differential diagnosis of a lesion displaying the presence of histiocytes so as to institute appropriate treatment and prevent recurrence.
