Abstract
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of CAG, dry AMG and wet AMG transplantation in pterygium excision surgery.
Material & Methods: The study was done on 60 eyes of 60 patients. CAG was transplanted on 23 patients, wet AMG was transplanted on 17 patients & dry AMG was transplanted on 20 patients. All patients were followed up on day 1, day 7, 1 month and 6 months post operatively. On each visit pterygium recurrence, graft retraction, necrosis and visual acuity were noted in all the patients.
Results: 35(58.33%) pt. were males while 25(41.66%) were females. Most of the patients were <40 years of age. During the follow up period, BCVA of 9(15%) patients remained same and improved in 51(85%) patients. CAG group had 2(8.69%), wet AMG group had 4(23.52) while dry AMG group had 4(20%) recurrences. Conclusion: All the groups showed good visual outcomes & low recurrence rate but recurrence rate was highest in wet AMG group followed by dry AMG group and lowest in CAG group.
