Abstract
Purpose: Report the presentation of rare case of Kearns- Sayre like syndrome. We describe a rare case report of a ten years old female brought by her parents with chief complaints of drooping of eyelids and decreased vision, impaired hearing and generalized weakness. She had no history of increase in drooping of lids and decreased vision as day progresses, diplopia, trauma, ocular surgery, any systemic illness, difficult swallowing, history of consanguinity. On examination, BCVA was 6/18 OU on Snellen’s. Facial asymmetry with short stature was noted. On ptosis workup, bilateral moderate ptosis was noted. The MRD1, MRD2, LPS action was noted. Lid crease was absent. The pupils were normal reacting to light. Posterior segment examination showed pigmentary changes in periphery with arteriolar attenuation and optic disc pallor. To rule out Myasthenia gravis, Acetylcholine receptor antibody test and Electromyography were done. Treatment: She was advised use of Low vision aids.
