Abstract
Anterior segment dysgenesis comprises spectrum of disorders affecting the development of the anterior segment of eye. Here we describe a case of unilateral ASD with Persistent Fetal Vasculature in a 8 year old girl presented to our pediatric ophthalmology clinic with complaints of whitish pupillary reflex and diminution of vision in the left eye with visual acuity being HMCF. Right eye findings were within normal limits. Upon further examination there was left eye lenticular opacity along with Iris hypoplasia, correctopia and a shallow Anerior Chamber. USG B scan of Left eye revealed presence of a fibrovascular stalk in the posterior segment suggestive of Persistent fetal vasculature. There was no other systemic associations present. Persistent fetal vasculature remains an important cause of amblyopia and visual disabilities in children with age of presentation and subtype of PFV being an important prognostic indicator.
