Abstract
Effects of COVID 19 on patient care are fairly known. We present the case of a 24 year old male, who sustained a corneal tear in the left eye, at work.We did a primary Corneal tear repair the next day under guarded visual prognosis, explaining the possibility of developing cataract in that eye.The post op vision of the patient was 6/36. Due to the restrictions posed by the lockdown and our hospital being a designated COVID 19 centre, the patient couldn’t follow up. We followed up the patient via telecommunication and called him back once restrictions were lifted. But during this time, as his vision began to worsen, his anxiety grew.He lost his job due to the injury and the presence of a white reflex in his eye which made getting a new job difficult. He was angry and abusive and we as a team calmed him down, counselled him and involved his wife to proceed with the cataract surgery under guarded visual prognosis. We operated upon him giving him a post op vision of 6/9, much to his relief.
