Abstract
INTRODUCTION:
Optic disc pit is a rare anomaly, belongs to a spectrum of congenital cavitary anomalies of optic disc which consists of extrapapillary cavitation, optic disc coloboma, and morning glory syndrome . Incidence is 1 in 10000,no sex predilection . Typically unilateral , bilateral in 15% of cases .
CASE REPORT :
A 42 years old lady came to OPD with chief complaints of Diminution of vision in RE since 1year.Visual acuity in RE is CF-1 meter, in LE 6/6. Right eye fundus showed a small oval white hypopigmented excavation of the optic disc located at the centre of the temporal margin of the disc with maculopathy and intra retinal fluid on OCT
CONCLUSION :
Although spontaneous resolution may occur, the prognosis is generally poor and can lead to severe visual loss if left untreated . Management is challenging , PPV is the main stay of treatment combined with fenestration , photocoagulation and gas tamponade.
