Abstract
AIMS & OBJECTIVES:1) To assess various fundus changes occurring in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension.2) To ascertain the value of fundus whether the pregnancy should be terminated
STUDY PERIOD: From August 2020 to August 2021
MATERIALS & METHODS: The study was conducted on 200 patients with pregnancy induced hypertension(PIH) attending obstetrics outpatient department. Visual acuity was tested, external ocular examination was done. Detailed fundus examination was done after dilating the pupil with tropicamide RESULT: The maximum number of patients were in the age group 21-25 years. Pregnancy induced hypertension was more in the primigravida than multigravida
CONCLUSION: During the management of PIH, ophthalmoscopic examination is an aid to the obstetricians. It is safe to allow patients with grade I and II hypertensive retinopathy to continue the pregnancy with treatment.
