Abstract
AIM
To determine the ocular complications following Anti VEGF injection in ROP
MATERIALS AND METHODS
An ambispective observational study was done in a tertiary care center from June 2019-May 2020 including 232 eyes of 116 preterm infants of Type1 ROP who received Anti VEGF injection. These infants were followed up for 1-2 years till July 2021 and complications were documented.
RESULTS
Mean GA and BW were 30土2weeks and 900-1650gms. Full maturation seen in 44eyes(19%),vascular arrest alone in 59eyes (25%),vascular arrest with tortuosity in 45eyes(19%), partial vascularization in 72eyes(31%). 125 eyes received additional laser treatment(54%). The complications included progression of retinopathy in 12eyes(5%),vitreous hemorrhage 3eyes(1%),endophthalmitis 1eye(0.4%), cataract in 1eye(0.4%)
CONCLUSION
Meticulous follow-up is essential after treatment of type 1 ROP till the disease regresses. Special vigilance in the risk period after treatment can help in detecting ocular complications.
