Abstract
Aims: To evaluate newly developed trans lid with applanation tonometer. Methods: A total 200 eye of healthy individuals were included.Three replicate measurements per eye using trans lid tonometer through eyelid and hand heldApplanation tonometer were performed. Results: The average IOP measured by translid and applanation tonometer was 19.4 ± 3.5and18.1 ± 3.4 mm Hg respectively. IOP of both devices was different, but eyelid tonometer device has showed significant correlation (r=0.9123) with applanation tonometer. Results will be more promising after validating in a greater number of clinical subjects. Conclusion:Results obtained from through eyelid tonometry and applanation tonometer were found to be clinically relevant. Translid tonometry could be a alternative device for quick screening for Glaucoma condition. The proposed device seems to provide a better choice for tonometry in patients, in minimum resource setting where Goldman applanation tonometry is not possible.
