Abstract
Seven Asian Indian patients ( 6 males: 1 female), presented to us with ocular symptoms like severe pain, acute loss of vision, redness after being diagnosed and treated for COVID-19 infection. They presented 1-24 days after developing eye symptoms. Visual acuity ranged from no perception of light to counting finger two metres.
Diagnosis included central retinal artery occlusion, 1 case of vitreous haemorrhage with retinal, vasculitis, 2 cases of presumed bacterial endogenous endophthalmitis, 1 case of presumed fungal endophthalmitis, 2 cases of panophthalmitis one of which was bilateral.
Treatment included oral and systemic antimicrobial therapy with or without systemic steroids with intravitreal vancomycin/ceftazidime/voriconazole with dexamethasone in selected cases. Final visual outcome ranged from no perception of light to 20/25.
Conclusions:
Post COVID-19 ophthalmic manifestations can be sight threatening as seen in this diverse group of patients.
