Abstract
Refractory glaucomas including cases of multiple failed trabeculectomies, post penetrating trauma, angle recession, post penetrating keratoplasties, silicone oil induced glaucomas and congentital anomalies can be extremely challenging to manage. We conducted a retrospective study from January 2017 to June 2020 of 54 eyes of 53 patients with refractory glaucoma in which Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Device (AADI) was placed in the vitreous cavity with a follow up period of six months. Post procedure intraocular pressure and number of anti-glaucoma medications were taken as the main outcome variables and significant reduction in both were noted in our study. We propose implantation of AADI in the vitreous cavity as an excellent long-term management option in refractory glaucomas.
