Abstract
Background: Ocular trauma is the most important cause of preventable blindness in which Traumatic Retinal Detachment (RD) is one of the most vision threatening complication. we present various clinical aspects of Traumatic RD and their post surgery anatomical outcomes. Methods: Medical records of 52 patients of Traumatic RD( 2 years) studied retrospectively. History,Clinical features and anatomical surgical outcomes been analysed and discussed.Results. Average age of presentation is 31.4 years; 90 % men. Maximum injured at work place and sports. 80% develops RD with 6 months of trauma. Flap tears (42%) is the most common retinal break in Supertemporal Quadrant. Grade B PVR with PVD were common. Though majority we manage with buckle surgery we achieved more than 90% of anatomical recovery. Conclusions: Traumatic Retinal detachment commonly associated with younger age with high risk of PVR, periodic follow up, early recognizing RD and timely surgical intervention helps salvage the eye.
