Abstract
Excessive growth of granulation tissue is mainly associated with abnormalities in the process of wound healing. It’s rarely reported following a SICS. A 40years old male underwent uneventful left eye SICS ,with BCVA of 6/6 .After 2 weeks during follow-up, he had complaints of a small, red, painless mass, slowly increasing in size in his left eye causing foreign body sensation. On examination a smooth red, velvety, slightly raised conjunctival lesion was seen superior to the limbus. There was no regression of the lesion by conservative treatment using steroid and antibiotic eye drop for 2 weeks ,hence excision was done, and sample sent for excision biopsy. Excision biopsy report revealed excessive granulation tissue formation, showing stratified squamous epithelium, with fibrous tissue, blood vessels, dense inflammatory infiltrates composed of lymphocytes, plasmacells, polymorphs in stroma, with no atypia. No signs of recurrence found during the 1-month follow-up period after excision.
