Abstract

Fungal keratitis is a leading cause of visual impairment in young & middle-aged patients. fungal kaeratitis is important for correct & early diagnosis,provide targeted treatment & hence prevent avoidable blindness & complication of vision loss.

The iolscope is DIY device made using four IOL which can be coupled with a smartphone to provide point of care diagnostics and it make possible to have a rapid &cost effective reliable diagnosis of fungal hyphae.we compare the iolscope to microscope to provide evidence on the images quality required to access the efficacy of diagnosing the morphology of 10 fungus species. Image quality was graded according to noise,sharpness,contrast,diagnostic confidence,artefacts,blotch appearance – images obtained were comparable according to t test. IOLSCOPE can be used as a screening device & good alternative to conventional microscope, is portable & has wide applications for use in peripheral centers,fields,camps,teleconsultation during COVID times.
