Abstract
Aim To estimate the efficacy of Lipiscan in diagnosing mebomian gland dysfunction there by dry eye disease with comparison to dry eye indices such as schirmers and TBUT. Materials and methods 186 eyes of subjects in the age group of 20 to 80 years who had dry eye symptoms where evaluated with routine ophthalmic evaluation along with schirmers, TBUT and subjected to LIPISCAN. Results The results showed increased correlation between TBUT and mebomian gland dysfunction along with higher sensitivity for LIPISCAN in diagnosing tear film dysfunction at a very early stage. Conclusion Our results also points out the lipiscan can be more accurate and precise in diagnosing and imaging membomian gland dysfuntion and there by could become a gold standard in diagnosis of dry eye disease.
