Abstract
Aim: To compare the visual outcomes between binocular videogame therapy and monocular videogame therapy in anisometropic amblyopia. METHODS: This was a prospective comparative study with a sample size of 30, age of 5-12. Group 1 – 15 subjects allowed to play 10 hours of dichoptic video games (1 hour/day) and Group 2 -15 subjects allowed to play the same game in monocular format with non amblyopic eye patched. Visual acuity(VA), Stereopsis, contrast sensitivity(CS) before & after therapy measured. RESULTS:The improvement of VA for dichoptic group on day1,day10 and 1 month was 0.41,0.20 and 0.38 & monocular group on day1,day10 and 1 month was 0.28,0.17 and 0.17 respectively. CS improved more in dichoptic group on day10 when compared to monocular group. There was significant improvement in stereopsis in dichoptic on day10 by 24.6 arc sec and in monocular group on day by 14.6 arc sec. Conclusion: Dichoptic therapy showed better visual outcomes compared to monocular therapy for amblyopia.
