Abstract
Purpose:To discuss management of periorbital necrotising fasciitis in immunocompetent patients
Method: 3 immunocompetent patients presented with findings consistent with periocular necrotising fasciitis. First case was a 55 year female presenting with infraorbital eschar 2.5×3 cm size after insect bite. Second patient was a 52 year female presenting with a right upper eyelid eschar 2×1.5 cm size after trauma with a tree branch. Third patient, a 40 year female presented early with 4mm pustule with 2mm eschar with no history of trauma.
Result: 2 cases with delayed presentation underwent debridement under antibiotic cover of broad spectrum intravenous (IV) antibiotics, followed by full thickness post auricular skin grafting to close the defect. Third case was conservatively managed with broad spectrum IV antibiotics; resolved without any functional defect.
Conclusion: Early diagnosis and prompt aggressive treatment prevents spread of infection, thereby shortening the course of disease.
