Abstract
Purpose: To report a rare case of bilateral CRVO in young patient
Summary: Simultaneous CRVO in both eyes is a rare entity. Only 10% of all CRVO patients are younger than 40 years. A 40 year old male patient with history of Diminution of vision in both the eyes since 1.5 months. The patient’s Best corrected visual acuity was 4/60. The patient was diabetic and hypertensive with history of premature Myocardial Infarction.
Fundus examination of both eyes revealed CRVO. OCT showed CME in both eyes. Hyper viscosity(raised S.homocysteine level) was diagnosed as the cause. Patient was treated with Intravitreal Bevacizumab and strict control of systemic factors with multivitamin.
Conclusion: Hyper-viscosity is the established risk factor in Young patient for vascular occlusion. Young patients with risk factors and co-morbid systemic diseases should be regularly screened for vascular diseases of retina.
