Abstract

Never have physicians considered vitreous floaters as a problem, underestimating the adverse impact they have on patients’ activities of daily living, quality of life, and vision. Here we present a retrospective, intervention case series of safety and efficacy of suture less 23G Pars Plana Vitrectomy(PPV) for Symptomatic floaters in Pseudophakic eyes. 35 eyes of patients underwent PPV with core vitrectomy and Posterior vitreous detachment induction and extensive search and management of retinal breaks. Mean followup of 12 months, mean age 63 years ( 58 – 68 y), Men 17 and female 18 eyes. All Patients had improved visual acuity at final post operative visit. Mean Visual acuity improved from LogMAR 0.48 to 0.18 (Snellen 6/18 to 6/9). The complication rate of vitreous hemorrhage postoperatively was 2.9% (1 patient). There were no cases of postoperative retinal tears, breaks, or endophthalmitis. PPV in carefully selected patient is effective and safe procedure with all patients satisfied.
