Abstract
The wide-angle viewing system (WAVS) using a non-contact lens is widely used by vitreoretina (VR) surgeons. The binocular indirect ophthalmic microscope (BIOM) lens is kept in close proximity to the cornea during vitrectomy. At times, the under surface of BIOM gets fogged due to condensation of hot exhaled air escaping through the eye drape near the medial canthus area. Fogging significantly obscures intraoperative visibility. There are a few suction based devices described in literature to prevent fogging. We here describe a novel, cost –effective, do-it-yourself anti-fogging device based on filtered air blow.
