Abstract
The purpose is to report a case of latent vertical deviation of eye ball in a patient of pre-senile mature cataract & its prognosis post cataract surgery.
A 42 yr old male with complain of painless progressive diminuition of vision in RE for 3 years. BCVA was PL present with accurate PR in all quadrants in RE and 3/60 in LE. In primary gaze both eyes were orthophoric. On torch light examination of RE when asked to focus on a point upward deviation of 4mm for 22 secs followed by downward deviation of 1mm for 9 secs & then spontaneous return to centre, cover test was normal, ocular movements were full range. On SLE mature cataract in RE & immature cataract in LE, rest ocular examination was within normal limits. No red glow in RE. SICS with PCIOL implantation was done in RE and followed after 1 week. Post operatively improvement in BCVA to 6/9 in right eye and elimination of latent vertical deviation.
Latent vertical deviation due to long standing cataract was a unique presentation.
