Abstract
PURPOSE: To present a case of phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis.
METHOD: A 19 year old female presented to OPD with pain, redness, watering in the left eye since 4 days. She gave similar history of 4 episodes in the past 1 year. Patient also complained of dry cough with night sweats since 1 month. Detailed ophthalmic evaluation was done.
RESULTS: On examination,BCVA was 6/6 in both eyes, anterior segment examination of left eye showed pinkish limbal nodule at 2’o clock position surrounded by conjunctival hyperaemia with few corneal epithelial defects and AC cells. Posterior segment was normal. Relevant investigations were sent and showed positive for mantoux and QuantiFERON-TB gold test. Patient was started on ATT and tapering doses of antibiotic steroid eye drops. Patient showed improvement after 1 month of therapy.
CONCLUSION: Since TB is curable, heightened awareness and better understanding of the ocular manifestations of TB should be of concern to all ophthalmologists.
