Abstract
introduction- Ocular trauma is an important cause of visual loss worldwide. The aim of the current study was to determine the visual outcomes and prognostic factors of OGI and CGI.
methods -Retrospective analysis of cohort during last 3 years at tertiary eye center. Creation of format, retrieval of data from EMR and analysis by SPS22. Description and cross tabulation used for analysis. Causative agents, types of trauma, sx interventions, Cx , VA compared among different groups.
result- total of 1629 pts documented to have undergone traumatic cataract sx in the study period. Type of primary insult was penetrating inj in 889 (54%) pts, blunt trauma in 735 (45%) pts. 325 pts had vision better than 6/18 with CGI and 470 pts with OGI. VA of 6/18 or better considered good visual outcome.Eyes which underwent PPC and anterior vitrectomy with OGI during cataract surgery showed statistically better visual outcome.
conclusion- pts with OGI showed better VA than those with CGI
