Abstract
The study was carried out with the objective to evaluate postoperative outcome of surgical procedure in terms of BCVA and to assess and manage complications occurring during PKP and at follow up.
This longitudinal follow up study was carried out on 30 recipients who underwent PKP during study period of 3 years. The results of surgery were studied prospectively over a period of 6 months, with follow up at 7 days, 1, 3 and 6th month.
A total of 30 cases were enrolled with corneal blindness .We observed no significant association of age and gender with outcome at 6 months .VA improved significantly in postoperative period at final follow up as compared to preoperative visual acuity . We observed no significant association of clinical diagnosis with VA at final follow up . Donor factor plays an important role in graft quality, recipient factors are also important. VA improved significantly following transplantation irrespective of clinical diagnosis, age and gender of the recipient.
