Abstract
A retrospective analysis of 6 patients was done. Results: There were 3 males/3 females. One patient had bilateral while rest had unilateral disease. Two patients had COVID-19 at time of keratitis. Presenting vision ranged from PL to HM. Pre-existing ocular pathologies included HSV keratouveitis, HZO ocular disease, diabetic keratopathy, glaucoma and ocular ischemic syndrome. All patients had infiltration of cornea =/> 6 mm, AC infiltrates and vitritis. Organism isolated was pseudomonas aeruginosa (one multi-drug resistant) in all patients except one was enterobacter species. Three patients required therapeutic keratoplasty, 2 resolved on medical management and 1 underwent evisceration. Two patients underwent grafting twice (including scleral graft). After treatment vision ranged from HM+ to 6/60. Conclusion: Severe gram-negative bacterial keratitis especially that caused by pseudomonas species posed multiple challenges for management and had grave outcomes despite aggressive treatment.
