Abstract
There are various imaging biomarkers for diabetic macular edema. These are central subfield thickness, cube average thickness, hyperreflective foci, disorganization of inner retinal layers(DRIL) ,disruption of external limiting membrane and ellipsoid zone. The aim of this study is to determine role of these OCT biomarkers in relation to the visual acuity as they are helpful in early diagnosis, explains prognosis and in follow up after treatment . This is the prospective and interventional study constituting 50 patients .Image were analysed using macular cube 512*128 and 5 line ratser scan. Eyes with any media opacities or any pathology affecting retina other than diabetes was excluded. It is concluded that eyes which have more horizontal DRIL length, large number of hyperreflective foci, more disruption of ellipsoid zone and external limiting membrane has the worse visual acuity irrespective of central subfield thickness.
