Abstract

A 44-year-old lady presented with complaints of pain in right eye(RE). Fundus examination revealed a disc edema in RE along with retinal flecks that involved peripheral retina but spared the macula in both eyes. Patient underwent Fundus Autofluorescence, optical coherence tomography(OCT),OCT Angiography(OCTA) which diagnosed it as familial benign flecked retina(BFFR). B scan confirmed the diagnosis of posterior scleritis. Blood workup, chest X-ray and Mantoux test were within normal limits. BFFR belongs to a heterogenous group of flecked retina syndromes and should be considered in patients with yellowish- white retinal lesions without involvement of macula. We report a case of a middle aged lady who presented with posterior scleritis and BFFR was picked up as an incidental finding following fundus examination. It is usually under reported as the patient remains asymptomatic with good vision. In summary, we describe the multimodal imaging features including OCTA of BFFR.
