Abstract
Objective: To identify subtle areas of ischemia and extent of CNP areas, which was not visible clinically comparing it with fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA).
Methods: The present study was conducted for the period of 2 years; comparative prospective observational study of 224 eyes that were confirmed cases of diabetic retinopathy included fundus examination clinically with Fundus Fluorescein Angiography.
Result: Out of 224 eyes, 14,18,61and 31 eyes with mild, moderate, severe NPDR and PDR respectively, was diagnosed on direct ophthalmoscopy (DO) .FFA confirmed the findings of No diabetic retinopathy into mild to moderate NDPR,IRMAs were found in 4%, 52 cases showed neovascularization .In the diagnosis with FFA, CSME was graded into 24% focal, 30% diffuse, 11% combined leak. The detection rate of diabetic retinopathy using FFA was significantly higher than that using DO (P<0.05). Conclusion: The detection rate of diabetic retinopathy using FFA is higher than that using DO.
