Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES – TO EVALUATE PROGRESSION IN RNFL THICKNESS AND OPTIC NERVE HEAD CHANGES AND VISUAL FIELD DEFECTS IN PRIMARY OPEN ANGLE GLAUCOMA BY OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY AND AUTOMATED PERIMETRY.
MATERIALS AND METHODS – IN OUR STUDY 116 EYES OF 58 PATIENTS SELECTED FROM THE ROUTINE OPD AND DIAGNOSED AS PRIMARY OPEN ANGLE GLAUCOMA AND WERE FOLLOWED UP FOR ONE YEAR.
OBSERVATION -IN OUR STUDY MEAN AGE OF PATIENTS WAS 49.58 ± 10.2 YEARS. MEAN IOP WAS 19.14 ± 4.23mmHg. CDR WAS 0.50 AND MEAN DEVIATION IN VISUAL FIELD WAS <6 IN MOST OF THE EYES. THE AVERAGE CUP TO DISC RATIO AND AVERAGE MEAN DEVIATION IN STANDARD AUTOMATED PERIMETRY SIGNIFICANTLY PROGRESSED OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR AND AVERAGE RFNL THICKNESS DECREASED SIGNIFICANTLY. CONCLUSION –STUDY SHOWED SIGNIFICANT PROGRESSION IN CDR, WORSENING IN VISUAL FIELD AND RNFL THICKNESS OVER THE STUDY DURATION.
