Abstract
PURPOSE: Brain tumours can compromise vision by disrupting the visual pathway, raising ICP and causing papilloedema, diplopia via palsy or 3rd/4th/6th carnal nerves, by proposes and 5th cranial nerve palsy causing exposure keratopathy.
PRESENTATION: A 17 year old male presented with a complain of diminshed vision in his right eye for the last 6 months and epistaxis from his right nostril for a month. He had proptosis with 7×8 mm central corneal ulcer and vision No HM/PL or PR in his right eye and normal left eye with a vision 6/9 BCVA 6/6. His right eye total ophthalmoplegia, Semidilated Pupil Nonreacting to light. B-Scan USG revealed a lobulated mass in the right posterior orbit to the eyeball extending into the brain & compressing the eye. MRI suggested advanced esthesioneuroblastoma.
CONCLUSION: The lack patient education, access to affordable and reliable healthcare can lead to Vision loss, strabismus, diplopia and evenevisceration , causing irreversible visual morbidity.
