Abstract
Anaplastic astrocytomas are rare malignant brain tumors belonging to the glioma family. Symptoms are variable depending on the location of the tumor, most of which result from increased ICP. We report a unique case of a 41 year old male who was referred from a cancer hospital for visual field documentation. Patient was a diagnosed case of astrocytoma and he was also operated for the same followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy few years ago . Fundus examination showed mild optic disc pallor in both eyes. OCT revealed hyper-reflective dots in vitreous, ERM with hyper-reflectivity in NFL, irregular granularity with few PED areas in RPE layer. Perimetry showed complete homonymous hemianopia. The VF changes are atypical considering the temporal craniotomy. We report rare association of these findings in a case of operated anaplastic astrocytoma with post radiation therapy.
