Abstract

A 9 years old female patient came with complain of progressive and painless loss of vision in left eye more than right eye since 2 months.Associated with color blindness to all except blue,black and white.On examination,Visual acuity-20/125(Right eye)2.4cycles/cm,20/125(Left eye)1.6cycles/cm using Teller Acuity Chart.Fundoscopy reveals tortuos vessels and pale disc in both eyes.TREATMENT-Intravenous Injection methylprednisolone 500mg for 5days followed by Tab Medrol 16mg OD for 2weeks and tapered to 8mg OD for 2weeks and 4mg OD for 1week.Improvement in Visual acuity is noted by the second visit.CONCLUSION- Methylprednisolone both as intravenous injection induced improvement in the visual acuity within 15days and even delayed treatment can be effective in a case like this.
