Abstract
Eosinophilic granuloma is a relatively rare benign bone tumor which presents in more than 90% children under age of ten.Orbital involvement is uncommon.
CASE REPORT:A 7 year old child presented with a 6 week history of sudden onset, gradually progressive, painless itchy swelling in the left superolateral orbital region. Ocular examination revealed a 7cm x 5cm soft, non-tender erythematous orbital swelling causing blepharoptosis. Patient was evaluated with CT and CEMRI orbit which suggested Eosinophilic granuloma involving left frontal and occipital bones. The patient was treated by close observation and symptomatic treatment with oral antihistamine for 4 weeks was given. In case of no improvement in the condition of the tumour, excision/intralesional steroid injection was kept in mind.4 weeks after the initial examination, the lesion resolved completely. In some cases of Eosinophilic Granuloma, observation alone with oral antihistamines helps in resolution of the mass.
