Abstract
A 62 year old male presented with a rapidly proliferating, fungating, painless mass in left eye since 10 days along with a painless swelling in front of left ear since 20 days. The patient had undergone evisceration in left eye 2 years back post traumatic injury. No previous records of clinical or fungus examination, histopathological reports or radiological investigations were found. T2 weighted MRI revealed A heterointense polypoidal lesion in left orbit with No extension to brain.Cystic metastasis in parotid gland was noted . Incisional Biopsy was suggestive of Squamous cell carcinoma. Patient was posted for left orbital exenteration. Excision biopsy confirmed squamous cell carcinoma. No local recurrence found on follow up. Occurrence of neoplastic growths in post eviscerated eyes points towards essential role of pre op radiological investigations, fundus exam & histopathological exam to reveal masquerading neoplasms. Thorough preoperative workup prevents spillage of tumour cells.
