Abstract
Purpose: To determine the efficacy and safety of topical tacrolimus ointment and topical cyclosporine drops for the treatment of subepithelial corneal infiltrates (SEIs) secondary to adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis.Study design; Prospective randomised observational study in a tertiary eye care centre in Bihar.
Material and methods: Patients of Adenoviralconjunctivitis(AK) with duration at least 4 weeks with SEIs.Change in SEIs,any adverse reaction were specifically noted and compared at baseline,1 month ,3months and 6 months within the group as well as between the two groups. Statistical analysis was performed on IBM, SPSS Statistics version 25 (IBM Inc.). Results: Out of 32 enrolled patients,17 patient in Gr A and 13 patients in Gr B were anayzed respectively. Conclusions: Topical tacrolimus as well as cyclosporine seems to be equally effective and safe alternative for the treatment of SEIs secondary to adenovirus keratoconjunctivitis.
