Abstract
Purpose: To report a case with conjunctival congestion diagnosed as extraocular cysticercosis. Method: 22 years male had acute onset conjunctival redness nasally in Left eye for 3 days which was associated with mild pain. On ocular examination, visual acuity was normal both eyes. Left eye revealed periorbital-edema, superficial conjunctival congestion nasally and underlying dilated and tortuous episcleral vessels with IOP 40 mmHg. It showed rapid progressive restriction of ocular movements in all directions of gaze without any proptosis. Subsequent radiological (CT/MRI) evaluation revealed cystic lesion within left medial rectus muscle suggestive of orbital myocyticercosis. Managed with Albendazole and prednisolone for a month. Result: Lesion resolved with the treatment both clinically and radiologically. Conclusion: Orbital myocysticercosis has myriad clinical presentation and can also present with unusual feature like conjunctival nasal congestion with restricted ocular movements.
